Has worked to pass legislation to create new jobs and economic opportunity for the State of Texas. A fiscal conservative, Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst has worked to balance state budgets without increasing the tax burden on Texans.

 

Steve MurdockSTEVE MURDOCK, PhD., EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, U.S. CENSUS BUREAU

Nominated by President George W. Bush, he became the 22nd director to head the bureau in 2008. Murdock has served as the first official State Demographer of Texas and headed the Texas State Data Center and Texas Population Estimates and Projections Program for more than 25 years.

 

Blake Hastings BLAKE HASTINGS, VICE PRESIDENT IN CHARGE, FEDERAL RESERVE BANK OF DALLAS, SAN ANTONIO BRANCH

Mr. Hastings is responsible for the Federal Reserve's cash distribution and processing facility in the Central and South Texas region and for furthering the branch's outreach activities for the banking, business, and academic communities.

She has dedicated her life to the proposition that intellectual and creative assets of all students must be developed for the common good. Cardenas will serve as a moderator for a roundtable discussion on higher education that will include college and university presidents from South Texas and the border region.
